Jeanne Vinal for Erie County Legislature
I am a candidate for Erie County Legislature in the 5th District because I love Western New York.
Our community has been so good to me and my family, and I want to give back.
As a child who grew up on the East Side of Buffalo, one of six children, whose father was in a wheelchair for 38 years and my parents running a small business on East Delavan Avenue, I have experienced good times and tough times.
Through luck, education, opportunity, hard work, the ability to work with others, and perseverance, I started and grew a successful law firm now celebrating our 25th year, and I have been privileged to work with my husband, just as my parents worked together.
I believe I am uniquely qualified for the Erie County Legislature due to my experience, abilities, and leadership style. As a lawyer with 30 years of experience, I know how to read, write, and analyze legislation. I work with multiple law firms on client matters and know both how to work with others professionally and collaboratively. Working in government is much like working in the law.
As a small business owner, I know the role and importance of small businesses and how critical they are in our economy. I also know how government can make a difference – good or bad – in our businesses and in our lives. Running a business makes me realize that things aren't always easy and you have to be prepared for change all the time. Growing up poor made me appreciate the fact that every dollar paid into government should be spent wisely and for the public good.
Me and my husband Greg have been blessed to have four great kids and we want to be sure our community continues to be a place where they can live, work, and be happy. That's one of the main reasons I am running for public office. I want to be part of the solution to keep our county growing and making sure that everyone benefits from the rise.
